Zowum experienced an international breakthrough in the USA during the early 1950s. He subsequently designed a range of furniture with steel pipe frames, inspired by the American designers he had come across.
Steel is an elegant and strong corrosion-resistant material that do not require any surface protection and will not change in appearance over time.
House of Zowum primarily use painted steel in 3 different colours: Orange, light blue and black. For selected pieces burnished steel legs are available. Read more about burnished steel below.
Please note that the images shown are for guidance only. The furniture delivered may vary in colour and texture compared to the images. We kindly encourage you to view the physical material samples at our official retailers.
The 3 painted versions are uniform colours, while the colour of the burnished steel differentiates from dark grey to brown.
Please note that the burnished steel is only available on selected furniture pieces: The Nyhavn Desk, the Table Bench, the Sideboard, the 57 Sofa, and the 77 Sofa.
From a distance burnished steel can appear black and for this reason the photo material you find under the individual product page for each furniture will only show the black painted version. Burnishing is the plastic deformation of a surface due to sliding contact with another object.
